HEART CENTER, Thessaloniki is a cardiology Center based in Thessaloniki Greece and in the European Interbalkan Medical Center. It provides to the patients:

High quality Cardiology services in all fields of clinical and interventional Cardiology
Advanced diagnostic Cardiology services consisting of the most contemporary methods and Techniques
State-of-the-art interventional therapies in many fields of interventional cardiology with main focus on interventional valvular heart disease therapy

Our Interventional cardiologist have been trained and worked in leading centers in West of Europe. They have been practicing for many years the most contemporary Techniques in the field interventional cardiology. They are certified trainers (proctors) of other interventional Cardiologists both in Greece and abroad, having helped to start interventional valvular disease programms in various countries. The team is now operating a “center of excellence” Training camp based in European Interbalkan Medical Center in Thessaloniki, where teams from other hospitals follow a structured course in order to be able to start up interventional valve therapies.

The main focus of the interventional activity is treatment of Aortic stenosis (TAVI) and percutaneous treatment of Mitral regurgitation (Mitraclip). Currently they are the only center in Greece and one of few in Europe certified to implant the Triclip, aiming to repair the Tricuspid valve percutaneously.

There is an active research program with Focus in interventional treatment of mitral regurgitation. The two active studies (RESHAPE-HF2, CARILLON) are multicenter randomised trials, and the heart center team are top recruiters in both trials.

Besides the interventional portfolio hiwever, the Heart Center teampractices the whole range of the most contemporary diagnostic Cardiology methods. Being the first team in Greece to perform 3D Trasesophageal ECHO (3D-TEE) they have one the largest experience thus far. CT coronary angiography and Cardiac MRI (including stress MRI) are both performed daily with great care and experience and are facilitated by the recently installed brand new equipments.

There is an active heart failure department integrating various methods of treatment including CRT, (Caridac Resynchronization Therapy).
